A remote desktop on a hosted Windows server
RDP is a way to connect to a remote Windows environment. Your keyboard and display interact with software running on that server, rather than on your local device. It can be useful for Windows applications that need a persistent environment, remote administration or a consistent workspace.
RDP is not a specification for the whole service
The term alone does not establish whether you receive Administrator access, dedicated virtual resources, a shared account, backups or application licenses. Arvexa’s RDP plans list their RAM, vCPU, NVMe capacity and traffic allowances and describe Administrator access. Compare those resources with your actual applications.
Check licensing for your intended use
Windows installation is not the same as a bundled Windows license or permission for an arbitrary number of simultaneous desktop users. Multi-user Remote Desktop Services can require additional licensing. Confirm the intended setup before ordering and consult Microsoft’s RDS licensing documentation.
What affects the desktop experience?
- Network latency between you and the chosen server region.
- RAM consumed by browsers and applications running together.
- CPU demand from compilation, automation or other processing.
- Display resolution, video activity and connection bandwidth.
A faster disk does not eliminate network latency. For a graphics-heavy workload, ask whether the software needs a supported GPU; ordinary RDP should not be assumed to provide GPU acceleration.
Before the first login
Use a strong unique administrator password, restrict remote access with appropriate network controls, apply updates and schedule backups. Test how you will regain access if a firewall or network setting is changed incorrectly. Compare Windows VPS if you want to size the underlying Windows server explicitly.
